If the surface is dull and faded, you can do the following to refresh and protect it:
1. Cleaning the table
First, you should thoroughly clean the table:
- Wipe with lukewarm water and a mild detergent (no alcohol, no solvents!).
- Use a soft sponge or cloth.
- Then let it dry well.
2. Painting not recommended
Painting is not recommended – especially not with commercial paints or clear coats. These can negatively affect the playing behavior (e.g., uneven ball bounce, shiny spots, wear). Even special table tennis paints are difficult to apply for private use and are usually only suitable for indoor tables.
3. Alternative: Protection with a cover
If the table continues to be used outdoors, we recommend:
- A UV-resistant cover to prevent further fading and weathering.
- Folding the table when not in use and storing it in a protected place.
4. Light optical refreshment
If you are only looking for an optical refreshment, you could carefully use a plastic care product for outdoor furniture (e.g., matte finish, UV protection) – but please test it first on an inconspicuous area, as this may change the playing characteristics.
If you want a surface that is optimally playable again in the long term, purchasing a new table is probably the more sustainable option – we would be happy to make you a good offer if you're interested.
